O'Learys Academy Wins Two Swedish Learning Awards

Shortlisted for Learning Initiative of the Year and Learning Strategy of the Year, O'Learys Academy, built with Attensi, took home both titles at this year's Swedish Learning Awards, part of Learning Conference in Stockholm.

The Swedish Learning Awards, held as part of Learning Conference 2026, represent one of Sweden's highest honors in learning and capability development. Competing against finalists from IKEA, Volvo, Saab, and Swedbank, O'Learys Academy was shortlisted for both Learning Initiative of the Year and Learning Strategy of the Year, ultimately taking home the top prize in both categories.

The goal: the restaurant industry's best training

A few years ago, O'Learys set out with one clear goal to build the best training in the restaurant industry. That meant moving training out of the "something you have to do" column and into something frontline teams actually wanted to do, shift after shift. It meant treating learning as a lever for the business, not a compliance checkbox.

Since then, O'Learys Academy has grown into the group's core learning platform, reaching franchise owners, restaurant leaders, and frontline staff across the organization. The training doesn't stop at the individual employee: it is built to move the whole business toward the same standard of service, shift by shift.

Gamified practice, not another module

Working with Attensi, O'Learys Academy replaced static onboarding material with gamified practice: real service and sales scenarios that franchise staff run through and repeat until the skill holds up on a busy Friday night. Employees train on the situations that actually come up on shift, upselling a round, handling a complaint, reading a busy room, rather than sitting through generic modules built for any industry.

For O'Learys, the recognition reaches beyond the Academy team that built it. It's a result driven by every franchisee, restaurant leader, and employee who puts the training into practice daily, and it shows up in the numbers: stronger sales conversion, better service scores, and a workplace people want to grow in.

“Working with training isn't about producing material for someone to learn. It's about changing mindsets, creating the right conditions, building curiosity, and developing leadership, to move the whole organization toward the same goal. That's exactly what we've tried to do at O'Learys: go from training as something you have to do, to a culture where people want to learn and understand that learning makes a difference in everyday work.”

On the main stage

The awards were not the only reason O'Learys and Attensi were in the room. Linus and Thomas from Attensi took the stage with the story of how O'Learys moved from mandatory training to a learning culture: one where employees are motivated to grow, and where better learning shows up in guest experience, results, and profitability.

The session also covered the practice loop behind the numbers: play the scenario, see what you missed, repeat until it sticks, and give the manager visibility into the progress. Or, as one slide put it: the first attempt is a measurement, the last one is the standard.

For O'Learys, the recognition is proof the strategy works, both for the people delivering it and the business behind it. It also strengthens the employer brand: proof, in a competitive hiring market, that O'Learys invests in the people who wear its uniform.

Congratulations to the entire O'Learys Academy team, and to every franchisee, leader, and employee who helped earn it.
